A Note from Kathleen
From October 28 to November 8, I will be travelling to France on an unforgettable tour with Classical FM listeners. We begin in the most beautiful city in the world: Paris! One of my favourite places, the “City of Light” is an outdoor museum in itself, rich in history, beauty and romance. As always, Sandie and Mark Harman have lined up an unforgettable itinerary to make the most of our time there. We’ll be staying at the luxury InterContinental Le-Grand Hotel Paris, steps from the Paris Opera. A legendary hub for art, we will go to Giverny and visit the home of Claude Monet, and see the landscape that inspired his famous water lilies. We’ll take in the French capital as they did in centuries past, along the Seine, as we cruise past Paris’s many landmarks over a gourmet dinner.
We’ll enjoy an excellent walking tour of downtown Paris, with a stop at Saint-Gervais, home of the Couperin family. Here, I will personally tell you the story of this magnificent French musical dynasty. And on the other end of the spectrum — because Paris is many things — an evening at the famed Moulin Rouge for a dinner and stage spectacular you won’t forget!
And then we board Uniworld’s S.S. Joie de Vivre. Uniworld boasts a 5-star river cruise experience, and they never disappoint. Every detail of the experience is luxury, with 7 serene days and nights of the highest level of comfort imaginable, complete with exquisite food, unlimited beverages and memorable excursions — and it’s ALL included! We will sail carefree up the Seine into Normandy, a region steeped in history. Passing through its beautiful countryside, our cruise will take us to Richard the Lionheart’s Château Gaillard, to the medieval city of Rouen, site of Joan of Arc’s execution, and the beaches of Normandy. Famous for many battles over the centuries, this includes the D-Day invasion of WWII, and we will have the opportunity attend an exclusive wreath-laying ceremony at the Canadian cemetery. And on the way back, a stop in one and only Versailles! See the palace that Louis XIV built, with its breathtaking interiors and exquisitely manicured gardens.
The trip is fully escorted by Sandie and Mark Harman. Enjoy 10 rich days breathing in Northern France, with Classical FM listeners — the best travel companions anywhere. What could be better?!
